Best Uses for Essential Oils
Here are some of the best ways to use essential oils. I’ve broken them down by type to make it easier to see and find. This isn’t an all-encompassing list, but it does talk about some of the most popular types of essential oils and their uses.
If you can pair up the knowledge from the books or readings about oils, your list is probably going to be even longer than below! This is just meant to be a quick little cheat sheet to give you an idea of how a certain oil can be used.
Lavender
Hands down, this is the best oil to have on hand. If you only buy one oil, this is the one to buy. Lavender oil is great for relieving stress, treating headaches, and can even help alleviate a number of skin irritations – such as acne, burns, and rashes. It can even help you sleep better.
Tea Tree
Tea tree oil is one of those oils that can be found in a number of beauty products and with good reason. It’s wonderful for the skin. It can help treat athlete’s foot, eczema, insect bites, and even dandruff.
Lemon
Lemon is most commonly used for cleaning applications. The sanitizing effects make it perfect for cleaning countertops, cutting boards, and more. However, you can also use it for health purposes.
Lemon oil is great for relieving anxiety and can even be used to make a homemade hand sanitizer. Just add a few drops to aloe vera gel and you’ve got a safe alternative to the store-bought version.

Recommended Essential Oil Diffusers
If you are looking for good quality and stylish essential oil diffusers, I recommend these two diffusers from Etsy. Get the Laser Cut Essential Oil Diffuser and Humidifier that changes colors as it diffuses oil into the air. If you are into Boho designs, get the Rattan Essential Oil Diffuser instead and achieve the chill vibes of a boho-themed home.
Using diffusers in your home is a simple way to change up the look while still getting those same favorite smells!
Peppermint
Peppermint oil does wonder for keeping pests out of your kitchen. However, it’s also wonderful for treating an upset stomach. You can mix a few drops of peppermint oil with olive oil and rub it on your stomach to treat nausea and cramps.
If you want to keep your coats smelling fresh throughout the winter, fold a paper towel and add drops of peppermint oil to it. The oil will keep your coats from smelling musky.
Eucalyptus
Last, but not least, the health benefits of eucalyptus oil cannot be overlooked. Not only can it help treat chest congestion, but it's a natural treatment for asthma attacks. Those suffering from chronic pain can rub the oil onto the affected areas to reduce pain.
The oil can also be used to treat shingle pain and help the condition heal faster. It’s even great for disinfecting and removing odors.
Essential oils are a great addition to your home. Whether you want to clean your home naturally or want to treat ailments naturally, essential oils are a must. Not only can you make your home smell wonderful and relieve stress, but you can even treat everything from athlete’s foot to asthma.
If you haven’t purchased any oils yet, get started with one of the ones listed above.
